Youth Program Leader position, bilingual in Spanish and English, is available at Northern Star Scouting. As a Program Leader, you will deliver Scouting programs to youth ages 5 - 17 at designated sites in St. Paul and Minneapolis communities. Your ability to speak Spanish and English will be invaluable as you provide positive experiences for Scouts and their parents/guardians, many of whom speak only Spanish. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your skills in teaching and leading youth and adult volunteers, as well as strengthening your community development skills.

$15.00 is your starting hourly wage with performance-based annual reviews and benefits which include training, paid sick and safe time, great coworkers, and approved business mileage reimbursement. Work is part-time, up to 20 hours per week, and your schedule varies to include afternoon, evening, some weekend hours.


  • Work directly with youth and track their progress in achieving goals
  • Foster a positive learning environment
  • Develop youth leadership, teamwork, confidence, and skills
  • Engage parents and other volunteers to assist with activities
  • Work with supervisors and site program coordinators to manage youth
  • Perform administrative responsibilities and keep accurate records
  • Plan and run weekly meetings, coordinate activities


  • Must be age 18 or older
  • Language proficiency in Spanish and English is required
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required, with some college preferred
  • Experience: Must have some experience working with youth in education, social services, youth development, or after school/community programs
  • Must be a leader and positive role model, strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to complete required training and effectively use the Scouting program curriculum
  • Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver's license and be insurable in the state of Minnesota
