Northern Star Scouting seeks a Program Coordinator to work in the Western MN District including Willmar, Hutchinson, and surrounding areas. You will support our dedicated volunteers who strengthen Scouting programs and deliver quality customer service and leadership to units. Your work will primarily be done from a home office with much of your time spent in the community meeting with volunteers. Your first month of training and initial programming may take place at home with COVID-19 considerations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Status meetings with staff leader to review plans and progress and to receive supplemental training
  • Support DE to promote Journey 2.0, assess unit health, and identify potential new volunteers
  • Support DE-lead during annual charter renewal period or membership campaigns
  • Assess and answer Scouting questions from unit volunteers
  • Help secure Scouting information from units via phone, email or in person visits 

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude and a high standard of courtesy and respect for others
  • Keep current files, records and pertinent correspondence of all work
  • Assist in any and all work as assigned by the District Director or other designated staff
  • Develop systems, solve problems to improve operations, and provide quality customer service
  • Maintain confidentiality of information dealing with all aspects of council business 

Qualifications

Required 

  • Must live in assigned service area
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office) along with internet/email skills
  • Quality customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrated time-management and organization skills
  • Must be willing and able to learn details of the Scouting program

Preferred

  • Experience as a Scouting volunteer
  • Knowledge of Scouting methods, terminology and aims

You will work with the District Executive in their territory and report to the District Director. Hours are scheduled as needed and will primarily be in the evening to accommodate volunteer schedules along with occasional weekend work. You will be required to drive one's personal vehicle and reimbursement is provided for business mileage. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and current motor vehicle insurance.
