As an employee at Northern Star Scouting, this position may serve as an Internship depending on your school's requirements. Great PT job for students to make a difference in the lives of youth and families. This is an excellent opportunity to engage and mentor students (ages 7-16) and gain valuable youth-development experience. Training is provided.

We're seeking energetic individuals to run after-school youth Scouting programs using our non-formal, hands-on curriculum. Work directly with diverse elementary aged youth at schools and community centers in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Responsibilities include the development, planning and leading fun, educational and age-appropriate activities using established curriculum developed for an after-school setting. Serve as a positive role model to youth of diverse backgrounds by fostering a positive learning environment to develop teamwork, leadership, and confidence-building skills.

The work schedule is between 2pm - 7pm, Monday through Thursday with most program hours occurring between 3pm - 6pm. Incumbent may work one to four days per week, depending on availability. Occasional weekend and evening opportunities available.

Qualifications

  • Must be age 18 or older.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
  • Experience: Must have some experience working with diverse youth ages 7-16 in education, youth development, recreation, social services, or after school/community programs. Experience with Scouts or other youth organizations is preferred, though not required. Must have strong organizational and communication skills, and a positive attitude.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with the ability to drive personal vehicle to and from program sites. Must maintain current automobile insurance at levels of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000.
  • Must be able to download the free TimeWorksPlus mobile app for payroll processing, and clock in and out to record all time worked.
