We are seeking a coordinator to deliver an evening program with first-time, non-violent juvenile offenders. Responsibilities include conducting intake meetings with youth and their families, facilitating diversion classes within our curriculum and guidelines, and providing program leadership to juvenile diversion volunteers. This position interacts with youth and their families, police departments, schools, and juvenile diversion volunteers. This position can serve as an internship/service-learning opportunity.

The Coordinator will work 10 to 12 hours per week, with a maximum of 18. The work schedule is typically one to two afternoons/evenings per week, with availability needed between the hours of 4 PM and 8 PM (specific days, hours and locations will be determined). This position requires commuting to after-school programs held once a week, and to intakes and evening classes. The position is based out of our Fort Snelling Base Camp with program sites in the northwest and southwest Metro.

Compensation: $14 per hour to start; annual increase may be provided based on performance. Reimbursement for approved business mileage is provided.

Qualifications include: 

  • Must be age 21 or older.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required, with some college preferred.
  • Experience: Experience with or knowledge of juvenile justice system is helpful but not required; teaching, social work, criminal justice or law enforcement background preferred. Must be willing and able to learn details of the Juvenile Diversion program and to continually improve customer service.
  • Requires strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills. Must be able to complete required training and paperwork.
  • Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, current automotive insurance at levels of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000 and be able to drive to program sites.
