Seeking a summer Aquatics Director to work Fridays through Sundays at Stearns Scout Camp, located near Annandale, MN. The camp season runs weekends from June 5 through August 24, 2018. This position may need to work occasional Thursdays. Aquatics certification training will need to be completed in advance.

Starting pay is $64 per day for 24 days/nights. Benefits include making a difference in the lives of youth, a fun work environment, and an opportunity to build lasting memories and lifelong skills including leadership and problem solving.

General responsibility: The Aquatics Director is responsible for ensuring that the waterfront areas at camp are operated safely and in accordance with quality standards. This position is responsible for providing waterfront safety, lifeguard training and swim instruction to youth and adult participants. Must be physically capable of demonstrating strong abilities for swimming, swim rescue, boating, etc.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Maintains and enforces all BSA aquatics safety standards.
- Trains and supervises the camp staff in lifeguarding responsibilities.
- Leads a team of 3 other staff members for facilitating all aquatics activities at beach area.
- Reviews, updates and/or creates outlines for aquatics program.
- Trains, monitors and advises the staff in running Aquatics programs including swims, snorkeling, aquatics games, sailing and boating, open activities, lifeguarding, equipment check-in and check-out, buddy board operation and BSA beach safety rules.
- Maintains the physical appearance and safety of the waterfront, including garbage removal, latrine, sauna and beach house maintenance, removal of debris and vegetation, dock repair, etc.
- Maintains inventory and coordinates check-in/check-out of all area equipment to protect against equipment misuse, damage and loss. Informs the Camp Director of equipment to be ordered or repaired. Informs the Camp Director of charges for damaged or lost equipment.
- Participates in camp-wide activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.

Qualifications include:
- Must be age 21 or older.
- Must have effective leadership skills, be able to lead and supervise staff, and enforce policies and procedures.
- Must be able to obtain Certified BSA Aquatics certification. Training will be provided. Must be able to attend and successfully complete it.
- Prior lifeguarding preferred.
- Familiarity with swimming and water rescue, paddle craft safety, safe swim defense and safety afloat.
- Canoeing, boating, sailing, snorkeling skills preferred.
- Familiarity with aquatics policies, swim qualifications and beach orientation.
- Skills in first aid, CPR, AED, spinal injury management (backboarding) preferred.
- Must be willing and able to get along with staff, youth campers, and adult volunteers, provide good customer service, and maintain a friendly and helpful attitude.
- Must be able to live at camp or live near the camp. Room and board/meals are provided though they are optional. Accommodations are outdoor shared tents. If the employee chooses to reside off site, an area is available for breaks.
- Must be able to maintain regular attendance.
