We're seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician at our new office complex located at Fort Snelling near the MSP Airport.

Responsibilities include administering facilities maintenance and security services. Provides project management for maintenance projects, and maintains project work order system for timely completion of projects across two buildings and related grounds. Ensures that all utility systems are fully operational and inspected in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules. Prepares cost estimates for building renovations or space allocations, and inspects completed work for conformance to specifications. Performs skilled trades work, such as carpentry or painting, repair, or alteration of structures such as walls or office fixtures (light construction and general handyman type repairs). Creates and tracks budgets related to maintenance, equipment and utilities. Receives shipments. Chairs the staff Safety Committee.

This position involves frequent interaction with vendors, staff and volunteers on the phone, via email and in person.

Qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent, with preference for an associate's degree in project management, certificate in trade school, or equivalent work experience related to project management, vendor management, facilities and/or maintenance. Must have a Boiler Operator Certificate. Must have a basic understanding of how things work (facilities related). Budget management and experience working with contractors and vendors are required. Experience using standard power and non-power tools is required.

Solid management, written and verbal communication, and problem solving skills are required. Strong organizational skills are essential to success. Must be able to complete required paperwork and keep accurate records. Knowledge of Scouting programs is helpful though not required.

Requires a working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel.

Physical requirements include keyboarding for long periods and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds; employees are expected to work with others to safely lift heavy items.  Must be able to drive and maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and motor vehicle insurance at minimum levels of $100K/$300K/$100K.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch break. Must be able to work some early mornings, evenings and weekends as demanded by work. Will be compensated for time worked outside of regular schedule. Must be able to maintain punctuality and regular attendance.

The starting salary range is $18 to $19.23 per hour (equivalent to $37,500 to $40,000 annually) based on qualifications; annual increases are based on performance.
