Seeking staff to run an after-school youth leadership program. Work directly with inner-city youth at schools and community sites in Minneapolis and St. Paul. We currently need guides who can work 10 to 15 hours per week. The number of hours worked depends on your schedule and interest. If your schedule changes, we will do our best to accommodate you. This job can be tailored as an internship if needed.

This is an excellent opportunity to mentor youth (ages 7-16) and gain valuable youth-development experience. Training will be provided.

 Some kids today face an opportunity gap that has contributed to an achievement gap. The right person can use this job and our non-formal, hands-on curriculum to help narrow these gaps and make a difference in the lives of youth.

Your responsibilities include: 
-Plan, develop, and run fun, educational and age-appropriate activities using established curriculum developed for an after-school setting.
-Serve as a positive role model to youth of diverse backgrounds by fostering a positive learning environment to develop team-working, leadership, and confidence-building skills.
-Work with supervisors and on-site program coordinator to manage behavior of youth in the program.
-Complete administrative responsibilities: track youth attendance, complete advancement reports, administer youth evaluations, complete meeting plans, gather materials and supplies, etc.
-Participate in field trips and special events as needed.
-Attend mandatory weekly meetings and training sessions.

Work schedule: Hours arranged between 1 pm and 6 pm, Monday to Friday with most program hours occurring between 2 and 6 PM. Occasional weekends and evenings are expected up to twice a month. Note: While the employee usually works between 10 and 15 hours per week, the programs are held in schools and during school breaks the employee will work fewer hours if any.

Qualifications include: 
-General: Must be age 18 or older. 
-Language proficiency in Somali is preferred.
-Education: High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
-Experience: Must have some experience working with urban youth ages 7-16 in education, youth development, recreation, social services, or after school/community programs. Experience with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts or other youth organization is preferred though not required.
- Must be able to run a fun and educational program, learn and use the curriculum, and serve as a leader and positive role model for youth.
-Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
-Must be flexible and able to adjust to last-minute program changes as needed.
-Must be able to commit to a consistent schedule for a 12-week period.
-Must have strong organizational and communication skills, and a positive attitude.
-Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, ability to drive personal vehicle to and from program sites, and current automobile insurance at levels of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000. 
-For payroll processing, you will need to download the free TimeWorksPlus mobile app and clock in and out to record all time worked.

Compensation: $14 per hour to start. Reimbursement for approved mileage is provided.
