We're seeking a full-time administrative assistant at our Golden Valley Scout office. The assistant will support our council-wide membership campaign; support our juvenile diversion, after-school, and special needs programs; and serve on the newsletter production team. Responsibilities include supporting multiple executives; managing databases; extracting, analyzing, organizing and presenting data; preparing meeting materials; desktop publishing and proofreading; designing fliers; phone calling; assembling mailings; and other administrative duties.

The assistant will work with other staff on shared assignments including back up to customer service. The position involves frequent interaction with volunteers and staff on the phone, via email and in person.

Qualifications include experience as an administrative assistant (two years preferred), and a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of the juvenile justice system and Scouting is helpful though is not required.

Requires intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, Access, and Adobe InDesign. Desirable skills include email (Outlook), MS Publisher, Adobe PhotoShop, and web maintenance/publication. Will be trained in customized databases. Advanced keyboarding and layout skills are needed, with a speed of at least 50 words per minute. Online assessments will be conducted of top candidates to measure software skills.

Must be a team player, problem solver, accurate, and detail oriented. Must be able to effectively handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines and handle frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to adapt to changing technology, maintain confidentiality, and exercise judgment. Must have strong verbal and written communications skills, and customer service skills. Must be able to maintain punctuality and regular attendance. Physical requirements include keyboarding, sitting for long periods, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday; the hours are negotiable. The starting salary range is $31-34K annually DOQ; increases are based on performance.
