District Executive, Community and Program Leader position available at Northern Star Scouting. You will lead, support and guide adult volunteers in Scouting as the team's point person in the Delano, Glencoe, Minnetonka, Orono, Rockford, Wayzata, and Waconia area. Much of your workday will be spent out in the community and meeting with volunteers, though you will work from our Leadership Center in Fort Snelling. This position will provide you with training and growth opportunities in leadership, volunteer management and community relations.

Your annual salary starts at $39,000 increasing to $41,000 after completion of required training. Benefits include major medical, dental, vision, life-insurance, short- and long-term disability, and retirement plan. The council offers PTO (equivalent of 16 days annually for new hires) and 11 annual holidays. The District Executive position requires flexibility and in turn, your work schedule is flexible. Frequent travel within the assigned territory is required. Must maintain a valid driver's license and motor vehicle insurance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Achieve goals related to growing Scouting in the local communities
  • Recruit volunteer leadership for program needs and maintain strong relationships
  • Provide support to units through membership recruitment, program development and activities
  • Form partnerships with religious, civic, fraternal, educational, and other community organizations
  • Provide quality service through timely communication, regular meetings, events, and activities

Essential skills

  • Ability to build and empower a team, build relationships, and connect with communities
  • Must be willing to learn and grow; must be excited about new challenges
  • Must possess effective organizational and communication skills
  • Must have time and project management skills, with ability to troubleshoot
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking, and able to work effectively with diverse audiences

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent
  • Must be age 21 or older unless prohibited by any applicable law
  • Experience in Boy or Girl Scouting or other youth organization is helpful, though not required
  • Solid management, written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills are required
  • Must be a team leader and player; build relationships and communicate effectively with others
