Northern Star Scouting's Special Programs Team is seeking energetic individuals to serve as Program Coordinators for Outreach Scouting programs including Juvenile Diversion, Special Needs, and After School Scouting. The focus is on citizenship, character development and fitness, through fun and adventurous programs for students interested in the world around them. Advantages in performing this work include leadership development, skills development, and the satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of under-served youth and gain valuable youth-development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement fun, educational and age-appropriate activities using established curriculum.
  • Serve as a positive role model to youth by fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Assist the director and on-site coordinators in managing youth behavior.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities: track youth attendance, complete advancement reports, administer youth evaluations, complete meeting plans, gather materials and supplies, and other.
  • Works full-time as a Northern Star Scouting employee with an annual salary of $29,719.
  • Variable schedule between 9am-7pm, Monday Friday (occasional weekend opportunities).

Qualifications

  • Must be age 21 or older.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
  • Experience: Must have some experience working with diverse youth ages 7-16 in education, youth development, recreation, or after school/community programs.
  • Scouting experience is preferred, though not required.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills, and a positive attitude.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with the ability to drive personal vehicle to and from program sites. Must maintain current automobile insurance at levels of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000.

Compensation for approved business-related expenses, including mileage reimbursement. The council offers paid time off (equivalent of 16 days annually for new hires) and 11 annual holidays.
