Northern Star Scouting seeks an HR Generalist to be hands-on and oversee administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function for approximately 100 FTE.  The position is located in a beautiful, sunlight-filled, new facility at our Base Camp, in Fort Snelling near the MSP Airport.  Join us in making a difference in the lives of youth and families in our community.

Responsibilities include:  HR leadership and partner to supervisors; employee recruitment, hiring, orientation, promotions, separations, terminations; employment policies, legal/HR compliance, personnel files; knowledge of payroll system in order to oversee and back up payroll coordinator; liaison with National BSA Human Resource and Benefits departments; EEO-1 reporting; employee relations; HRIS and ATS systems; staff advisor to volunteer HR Committee; participant on Operations Team.  The position reports to the CFO and collaborates with the Payroll/HR Coordinator but does not supervise.

Qualifications include: college degree in related field and three to five years of human resource generalist experience.  Prefer appropriate HR certifications as well as SHRM affiliation.  Strong verbal and written communications skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and consistent application of policies. Must be dependable, timely, and detail oriented.  Networking to stay abreast of local trends and new recruitment potential is important. Physical requirements include keyboarding, sitting for long periods, and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Required intermediate level skills in Word, Outlook, Excel, Acrobat and Visio.  Will be trained in programs such as WorkBright, IOI Pay, and HR Fusion.

This in an exempt position with general work expectations of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
