We're seeking energetic individuals to run an after-school youth leadership program . Work directly with urban youth at schools and community sites in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Use our non-formal, hands-on curriculum to make a difference in the lives of youth. Work up to 20 hours per week.

This is an excellent opportunity to mentor youth (ages 7-16) and gain valuable youth-development experience. Training will be provided. The job can be tailored as an internship if needed; it is your responsibility to determine if academic credit is available within your academic department and degree program.

Responsibilities include:
-Plan, develop, and run fun, educational and age-appropriate activities using established curriculum developed for an after-school setting.
-Serve as a positive role model to youth of diverse backgrounds by fostering a positive learning environment to develop team-working, leadership, and confidence-building skills.
-Work with supervisors and on-site program coordinator to manage behavior of youth in the program.
-Complete administrative responsibilities: track youth attendance, complete advancement reports, administer youth evaluations, complete meeting plans, gather materials and supplies, etc.
-Attend weekly planning and training sessions.

Work schedule: Hours are arranged between 2 pm and 6 pm, Monday to Thursday with most program hours occurring between 3 and 6 PM. Occasional weekends and evenings opportunities available. Note: While employees usually work up to 20 hours per week, the programs are held in schools, and during school breaks employees work fewer hours if any.

Qualifications include:
-General: Must be age 18 or older. Spanish language skills would be helpful. 
-Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
-Education: High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
-Experience: Must have some experience working with urban youth ages 7-16 in education, youth development, recreation, social services, or after school/community programs. Experience with Scouts or other youth organization is preferred though not required.
-Must be able to run a fun and educational program, learn and use the curriculum, and serve as a leader and positive role model for youth.
-Must be flexible and able to adjust to last-minute program changes as needed.
-Must be able to commit to a consistent schedule for a 12-week period.
-Must have strong organizational and communication skills, and a positive attitude.
-Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, ability to drive personal vehicle to and from program sites, and current automobile insurance at levels of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000.
-For payroll processing, you will need to download the free TimeWorksPlus mobile app and clock in and out to record all time worked.

Compensation: $14 per hour to start. Reimbursement for approved mileage is provided.
