Seeking an experienced, goal-oriented development professional to join our nonprofit youth development organization headquartered in Twin Cities MN, Northern Star Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Development Director is responsible for aspects of building, promoting and managing our annual fundraising campaign, special events, grant writing, endowments, and networking with alumni. Involves recruiting volunteers as well as coaching, supporting and directing volunteers and staff related to the programs.

Qualifications include:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Experience: (Required) Annual fund and/or major gift cultivation experience. (Preferred) Business/management experience, including budget, supervisory, and program development/implementation. Experience in Scouting or other youth organization is helpful though not required. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Skills: Must enjoy building relationships and working with volunteers of a variety of backgrounds. Must be able to communicate effectively with top corporate and community leaders. Must have experience with proposal development and writing. Must be goal-oriented, self-starter, team player and problem-solver, with effective organizational and communication skills. Must demonstrate a passion for youth programs. Creativity and ability to juggle multiple projects while adhering to deadlines are important attributes. Must be able to work independently, be a team leader and a team player, and be dependable, accurate, and detail oriented. Essential skills to succeed in this job include the ability to build and empower a team, ability to build relationships, salesmanship, time management, and project management. Must be comfortable with public speaking.

Travel around the Twin Cities area is required using one's own vehicle; mileage reimbursement is provided for business miles. Must have driver's license, auto insurance ($100K/$300K/$100K), and reliable transportation. Must be able to work full-time days and some evenings and weekends. Offers for employment are subject to motor vehicle and criminal background checks. Must be age 21 or older unless prohibited by any applicable law.
