We're seeking a part-time leader to run an after-school youth program in St. Paul up to 15 hours per week. The employee will work with youth ages 7-20 and their parents, some of whom may speak only Karen or Hmong.

This is an excellent opportunity to expand your skill in teaching and leading youth and adult volunteers, as well as strengthening your community development skills. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities include planning and running weekly meetings as well as coordinating activities. Meeting times will vary and include afternoon, evening and some weekend hours. Work directly with youth and track their progress in achieving goals. Foster a positive learning environment to develop leadership, team work, confidence, and skills. Engage parents or other volunteers to assist with activities. Work with supervisors and on-site program coordinators to manage youth. Complete administrative responsibilities including tracking attendance, completing advancement reports and taking meeting notes. Attend various meetings and training sessions. Participate in field trips and special events as needed.

Qualifications include:

* Must be age 18 or older.

* Language proficiency in Karen or Hmong and English is required.

* Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required, with some college preferred.

* Experience: Must have some experience working with youth in education, social services, youth development, or after school/community programs. Boy or Girl Scouting or other youth-service background is preferred though not required.

* Must be willing to be a leader, run a fun and educational program, learn and use the Scouting curriculum, and serve as a positive role model for youth.

* Must be able to complete required training and paperwork, track participants' progress in achieving goals, and keep accurate records. Strong organizational and communication skills are needed.

* Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver's license and reliable transportation; must be able to drive to program sites and be insurable in the state of Minnesota.

* For payroll processing, must download the free "TimeWorks Plus" mobile app and clock in and out to record all time worked.

Compensation: $14 per hour to start; annual increase is based on performance. Reimbursement for approved business mileage is provided.
